Nigerian-born midfielder, Eberechi Eze, five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, and hat trick hero, Lautaro Martinez lead My11’s Round 17 Team of the Week.
Goalkeeper:
Gianluigi Donnarumma | The Italian shot-stopper had an outstanding game to help 10-men AC Milan defeat Benevento away from home. He made 5 crucial saves, including saving a penalty to make sure he kept a clean sheet.
Defenders:
Achraf Hakimi | The Moroccan full-back has been giving a back-to-back impressive performance, and in Inter Milan’s 6-2 thumping of Simy Nwankwo’s Crotone, Hakimi put up another impressive shift. He got his name on the scoresheet.
Eric Bailly | The Ivorian proved again why he is the best defender at Old Trafford, as Manchester United defeated in-form Aston Villa 2-1. Bailly made 6 clearances, and just 1 blocked shot that was a match-winning block for the Red Devils late in the game, with all his teammates running to him after the final whistle.
Kieran Tierney | Arsenal look to be back to their best and in their 4-0 thrashing of Semi Ajayi’s West Brom, Tierney was solid. He scored a beautiful solo goal with his weak foot and gave 4 key passes, one of which was an assist.
Midfielder:
Eberechi Eze | The Nigerian-born midfielder had a man of the match performance in Crystal Palace’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United. Eze came on in the 40th minute and 5 minutes later, he scored a brilliant goal, making a solo run from his own half, similar to the 2020 Puskas award goal from Son Heung Min.
Kevin De Bruyne | The Belgian had a brilliant game as Manchester City defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Gave a lovely pass for Phil Foden to score, before placing the ball into the back of the net, after Raheem Sterling’s shot hit the upright.
Piotr Zielinski | The Polish had a solid performance in Napoli’s 4-1 win away to Napoli. He hit 6 shots, 4 on target, and scored 2 goals. He sent in lots of crosses which caused havoc for the hosts. He was impressive all round.
Cristiano Ronaldo | The 35-year-old had another “Ronaldo trademark” game. He had a match-winning performance with 4 shots, 2 on target, and both were goals. He also gave 2 key passes and one was an assist, with a game-high of most dribbles and most fouled in the match.
Forward:
Alexandre Lacazette | The French striker had arguably his best performance for Arsenal this season in their 4-0 win over West Brom. He hit 5 shots with 4 on target, scored 2 goals in the space of 4 minutes, and gave 3 key passes in the encounter.
Luis Suarez | The Uruguayan is showing why Atletico Madrid brought him from Barcelona. He provided an assist for the first goal of the game and scored the winning goal for the capital club late in the game to help them win all 3 points.
Lautaro Martinez | How well do you define a striker’s performance after scoring a hat trick? The Argentine had a great game in Inter’s 6-2 win and scored half of those goals. He also gave 3 key passes.
Manager:
Ralph Hasenhüttl | The Southampton manager broke down in tears after the final whistle, following the Saints 1-0 win over Liverpool, nullifying everything the champions did to secure all 3 points.
